Who are we?
The Newcomers Club of the Roanoke Valley was organized in 1973 and founded by the Salem Parks and Recreation. We are a women’s social and support group that endeavors to welcome and promote friendship among newcomers and those whose lives are in transition by providing a social structure.
Our members include people who are brand new to the area and some have lived here their entire lives. Some have moved away, then moved back, while others have recently retired from their jobs. Our members live in all parts of the Roanoke Valley… Roanoke City, Salem, Bonsack, Fincastle, Daleville, Troutville, Vinton, Hardy, Roanoke County, Botetourt County, Smith Mountain Lake and all points in between. We have one thing in common – an interest in expanding our circle of friends.
What do we offer?
Our club provided many opportunities for social, charitable and cultural activities that make it easy meet new friends and learn about our Valley. We provide monthly meetings that include a wonderful lunch, stimulating programs, and opportunities to get involved with local charities.
We have approximately 20 activity groups that cater to a wide variety of interests. These interest groups include games, dining, crafts, community service, outdoor activities, and so much more. There are daytime, evening, weekday, and weekend activities for singles and couples. You can participate as much or as little as you like. With almost 180 current members and new members joining all the time, there is sure to be a new friend waiting to meet you.
